Somewhere Over the Rainbow

A little off our normal topic......I came home this evening and found a rainbow over my house.  Wish I had my camera, but only had the cell phone to use to take a picture.  After a not too pleasing day, this put a smile on my face.  I hope it puts one on yours too!

I love this little book.  I picked it up at the Screen Door where we used to have our retail space for many years.  Did you know what a great book store they have?  And all the books are sold at discounted prices!
Anyway, Dwellings is written by two designers, Stephen Sills and James Huniford.  These guys break it down and make design simple and understandable and they touch on just about everything ....planning and living in a room, color, furniture, surfaces, function, details, etc.....
Just when I think I've read it all and looked at all the beautiful pictures, I'll open this little gem and see something new.
Two gorgeous kitchens....

Two of my favorite quotes from the book.....
"Personal quirks give a room its human qualities."
"Changes can be small, temporary, or seasonal yet they can have a major impact."

We're Still Here!

Wow, I just noticed that it has been over 2 months since I've blogged, yikes! We are still working diligently on the project mentioned in the preceding posts. I've taken a bazillion pictures of the house, but I can't bring myself to post them because there is still so much clutter and construction debris in them. I have been posting a few on our Facebook page.
So until I can get some proper pictures to share with you, I thought I'd post some of the furniture and lighting that is being used.

Vintage French chairs our client will use in her kitchen.
Kitchen cabinet hardware...

These are wall sconces and a chandelier that is going in the 'piano room'.
Here is a console for the 'piano room'....
Here is a lamp for the console....
Some lovely chairs for the 'piano room' that are currently sitting in my mess of a basement......
Okay here is a picture of the fantastic entry light from Solaria. Ignore the tape and splotches on the wall, please.
We found these old tin ceiling tiles that were taken out of a building in downtown Asheville and now are on the ceiling in the French inspired half bath.
This is the fabric we are using to upholster a pair of antique English parlour chairs that will go in the master bedroom.
Finally, these lovely vintage French nightstands will be used just as they were intended.
